The BOX CURSOR page is where you will define the frame lines for 2.40 widescreen, 1.85 feature and other formats.

The numbers here are in percentages

H-POSI defines the horizontal position. The default is 50%, or mid-way

V-POSI defines the vertical position. The default is 50%, or mid-way

WIDTH defines the percentage of the screen width. Typically you will want to be very close to the edges of the screen, and very close to 99%, the maximum value.

HEIGHT defines the percentage of the total screen. The height will vary with the format from 99% for full-ap 1.78, to 71% for full-ap 2.39.

Here are some common BOX CURSOR setttings (H and V positions are always 50), and the formula to calculate your own:

The formula to calculate Width and Height percentages:

Width = desired safe action percentage

Height = ( 1.78 / Aspect Ratio ) x Width

Example for 2.39 aspect ratio 94% safe action

Width = 94

Height = ( 1.78 / 2.39 ) x 94

Height = 70.01

Height (rounded off) = 70

Reminder: the SAFETY and EFFECT markers on the previous page 3, only display safe action and full aperture for 1,78 (16 by 9) and not for any other format.

Note: that there are 6 clicks (intervals) between each percentage integer. For example you have to click the thumb wheel 6 times to get from 98 to 99 percent.
